This 2-day itinerary is designed for travelers starting from Kampala or Entebbe, combining a wildlife game drive, the famous Murchison Falls, and a boat cruise on the Victoria Nile. Murchison Falls is approximately 300 km from Kampala, with the road journey commonly taking around 6–7 hours depending on the route and stops.
Begin your safari early in the morning with pickup from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe. Drive northwest toward Murchison Falls National Park through the countryside, with a stop along the way for breakfast or refreshments. The journey provides an opportunity to enjoy views of Uganda’s countryside, local communities and agricultural landscapes.
Continue toward the park through the Masindi route before entering the Murchison Falls Conservation Area. After completing the necessary park formalities, proceed toward your lodge for check-in and lunch.
In the afternoon, head to Paraa for a boat cruise along the Victoria Nile toward the base of Murchison Falls. The cruise offers opportunities to see hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes and numerous water birds along the riverbanks.
The boat cruise is one of the major highlights of a Murchison Falls safari, providing a different perspective of the park’s wildlife and the powerful Nile River. At the end of the cruise, return to your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight accommodation.
Wake up early and enjoy breakfast before beginning a morning game drive in the northern sector of Murchison Falls National Park. Early morning is particularly suitable for wildlife viewing, and the park is known for elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, lions, Uganda kobs, hartebeests and other antelope species.
Explore the game tracks around the savannah, allowing time for wildlife viewing and photography. Your guide will look for animals along the tracks while explaining the park’s ecosystem, wildlife and conservation importance.
After the game drive, leave the park and visit the top of Murchison Falls, where the Victoria Nile forces its way through a narrow gorge before continuing downstream. The viewpoint provides an impressive opportunity to appreciate the power of the falls and take photographs.
After visiting the falls, begin your journey back toward Kampala or Entebbe. Stop for lunch along the way before continuing the drive. Depending on your final destination and traffic conditions, you should arrive in the evening, marking the end of your 2-day Murchison Falls safari.
