3 Days Gorilla & Chimps Trekking Safari from Kigali

Your safari begins with an early morning pick-up from Kigali by your professional driver-guide. After a short briefing about the journey ahead, you will begin your scenic drive to Uganda, a region known for its breathtaking landscapes and rolling hills.

Along the way, you will pass through vibrant towns, lush banana plantations, terraced farmlands, and beautiful countryside often referred to as the “Switzerland of Africa.” There will be stopovers for lunch and stretching, as well as opportunities to take photos of the ever-changing scenery. As you approach Bwindi, the terrain becomes more mountainous and forested, offering your first glimpse of the dense jungle that shelters the mountain gorillas.

After an early breakfast, your guide will transfer you to the park headquarters for a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. During this session, you will learn about gorilla trekking rules, safety guidelines, and the gorilla family you will be visiting.

You will then enter the forest in small groups accompanied by experienced trackers and armed rangers. The trek can take anywhere from a couple of hours to most of the day depending on the location of the gorilla family, but the journey itself is incredibly rewarding. You will hike through thick vegetation, cross streams, and navigate steep forest terrain while learning about the park’s rich biodiversity.

Once the gorillas are located, you will spend one magical hour observing them in their natural habitat. Watching them feed, groom, play, and interact at close range is a deeply moving wildlife encounter that few experiences in the world can match.

After returning from the trek and having lunch as you proceed to Kalinzu forest reserve, where you will experience the chimpanzee tracking on the next day before proceeding to Kigali.

After breakfast, you will check out from the hotel and then head in to the forest for chimpanzee tracking. After encounter with the chimpanzees, you will drive to Rwanda via Katuna or Kyanika Boarder.

Your guide will ensure a comfortable and well-timed transfer, with arrival in Kigali in the evening. You will be dropped off at Kigali International Airport in time for your outbound flight, marking the end of your unforgettable gorilla and chimpanzee trekking safari in Uganda.
